SUBMISSION GUIDELINE

Please read this Guideline of abstract preparation before submitting.
Abstracts that do NOT comply with this guideline may be rejected.

HOW TO SUBMISSION

1. Read the Guideline, Eligibility, and Types of Submissions.
2. Prepare the documents before submission.

– For Resident Paper Award, please prepare 2 or 3 documents as follows:
1)   An abstract which is written by following the principles in the template.

2)   A certified letter from his/her institute.
3)   Approval letter of Human Research Ethics Committee (if any).
– For Best VDO Award, please prepare 2 documents as follows:
1)   An abstract is written by following the principles in the template.

2)   A link to download VDO.

3. Register and submit all required documents in the registration form.

Guideline:

1)   Write abstract in English with font ‘Times New Roman 14’.
2)   Each abstract must include 4 elements: Title, Author name(s), Affiliation(s), and Abstract body.
3)   Title should be in all lower-case letters except the first letter of tile.
4)   Author name begins with full first name then surname (NO academic degree) with notation of affiliation in superscript letter immediately after surname.

e.g.  Piti Munkong 1, Choojai Mana 2

5)   Affiliation must be written as

e.g.   1Department of Surgery, ABC Hospital, Bangkok
          2
Trauma Unit, XYZ Hospital, Nonthaburi

6)   Abstract body must be written in the 5 following headings: Background, Objectives, Materials and Methods, Results and Conclusions – except an abstract for case report or VDO presentation that can be written in a narrative form.
7)   Abstract body must NOT contain more than 350 words.
8)   Abstract must NOT include table, figure, or reference.

Eligibility:

1)   Applicants must register online before submission.
2)   An entry is limited to one submission only.
3)   As there is only one abstract form for both submission, applicant must indicate clearly for which award he/she wishes to apply and fulfill all regulations of the selected award.
4)   In case of no qualified entries, the contest committee reserves the right to not award any or all prizes.
5)   The decision of the contest committee is considered final.
6)   Deadline of abstract submission is 15 December 2022 (midnight BKK time).
7)   Presentation must be made in English only at the venue, Khao Yai Convention Center.

Types of Submissions
1.   Resident Paper Presentation

(1) The research must not have been previously published or received an award elsewhere (except award or contest in his/her own institute).
(2) Applicant must be surgical resident or a fellow.
(3) A certified letter from his/her institute including evidence of approval by the Research Ethics Committee, if necessary, must also be attached.
(4) Abstract must be submitted to the contest committee for consideration.
(5) The deadline for submission of abstract is Sunday, 1 January 2023.
(6) Oral presentation in English must be made by the surgical resident/fellow on date, time and venue assigned by the contest committee. The time limit is 8 minutes plus 2-minute Q&A.

2.   Best VDO Award

(1) There is only one category: Surgical technique
   The award consists of three prizes as follows:
    First Prize – Baht 5,000
    Second Prize – Baht 3,000
    Third Prize – Baht 2,000
(2) Entries to the award must not have been previously presented elsewhere (except award or contest in his/her own institute).
(3) The length of the VDO must not exceed 8 continuous minutes (excluding 2-minute Q&A after the presentation) with clear narration in English (no background music).
(4) The VDO must be in MP4 format, resolution not less than 720p (1280×720) and the content of VDO must not show the face of patient or anything that can identify the patient.
(5) During VDO presentation the contestant must be present to answer questions of the contest committee and the audience on date, time and venue assigned by the contest committee.
(6) To qualify for the award, the winner must achieve not less than 70% of the total scores.
(7) Abstract including the VDO must be submitted to the contest committee for consideration before Sunday, 1 January 2023.
(8) The decision of the contest committee is considered final.
